It's up! After months of coordinating with artists, co-organizer Beck Feibelman, and Dixon Place, we finally installed the show last Friday. I am very excited and proud of this show because I believe it's timely and relevant.
I would like to invite you to the opening of RALLY: QUEER ART AND ACTIVISM NOW, a show I co-organized for HOT! Festival at Dixon Place, the world’s pioneering and longest-running LGBTQ Art Festival featuring visual and performance art.
This year our main directive for conceptualizing and organizing the show is thinking about our moment today defined by an atmosphere of violence and social unrest across the country and its impact on art and art making for queer artists. We were interested in the varied aesthetic approaches to resist, protest, and address this widespread injustice and especially for me looking for perspectives from Queer and Trans People of Color.
As a result, we have a focused show including three artists and two collectives whose works are actively engaged in and respond to these difficult times with strength, clarity, and optimism.
I hope you will join us at the reception!
